Vacation

Vacation!  It had been way too long since we went on a family vacation.  We knew this summer we had to go somewhere.  Our criteria for our vacation was that it had to be only a days drive away, somewhere we could camp out, and I really wanted a beach.  Since we are nowhere near an ocean, the closest large body of water with a beach is Lake Michigan.  So, we headed up to Wisconsin.  We stayed in the Kenosha and Racine area.

We got to camp out at a nice little campground.  Since we camped out we were able to cook our food every night over the fire.  Sofia got to be a big girl and roast her own hot dog and marshmallows.

Of course everyday we went to the beach.

The first day was a little chilly.  The temperature was always about 15 degrees cooler by the lake.

The days were hot and the cooler temperature by the lake was a big welcome.  The water was absolutely freezing though.  I don't know how anyone can swim in that water.  There were several swimming in it though on our last day there.

Sofia loved playing in the sand.  She did not want to go near the water.  We tried though and one thing we were doing with her is we would stand right up to where we think the water might come after a wave and then we would run away before the water touched our feet.  Sofia thought this game was lots of fun, but the funny thing is she was nowhere near the water.  She thought she was though.

It was so nice to feel the sand between out toes!  I will share with you tomorrow what else we did on our vacation.
