Bubble Prints

We are finally having wonderful warm sunny weather.  Walks and outdoor play are now back on schedule.  I decided to try a fun craft with the kids yesterday.  It involved dish soap so this was definitely an outdoor activity.

Here is what you will need:  dish soap, shallow bowl, water, food coloring, a drinking straw, and white paper.

Here is what you do...

Fill a shallow bowl with 1/4 cup dish soap, a little bit of water, and a few drops of food coloring.  Stir it up a little so the food coloring gets mixed in.

Put one end of the straw into the soap and blow through the other end.  Be sure not to suck or other wise you will get a mouthful of soap.

When you get your bubbles to look like this...

Place your white paper over the bubbles.

The bubbles will pop and make neat bubble prints on the paper.
They chose purple, but it was almost too light.  I think a darker brighter color would work better.
When the kids were done making their bubble prints they played with the bubbles.  Bubbles were blown to fill the bowl and then they would pop them or just put their hands into the soap and rubbed their hands together.  Either way they had fun playing with the soapy water.
