Two years ago on January 16th we were strongly awaken at 2:00 a.m. to a baby girl who was in a hurry to come into this world. At 5:45 a.m. Sofia Mae was born. She knew exactly what she wanted then and it continues to this day. She is independent, quiet, silly, shy, smart, creative, determined, and the list can go on. We love her so much and it is hard to believe she has been in our life for two years now.
These past few weeks she has really shown us that she is no longer our baby, but a big girl (she will always be our baby though). She is a big girl now because we moved her out of her crib. She loves her new bed. We had a twin bed in our spare room and decided we should just let her use it. We didn't have a railing for it yet, but we went ahead and let her sleep there. We put a few pillows on the floor just in case she would happen to fall out. We still don't have a railing up yet and we decided not to put one up. She has been sleeping in her new bed for almost three months now and has yet to fall out! Another sign she is now a big girl is that she has given up her pacifier. She decided one day a few weeks ago to give it up. We are very proud of her. I thought she needed some kind of reward for giving it up, but at the same time we really didn't want to make a big deal about it. We thought if we mentioned her pacifier she might decide to take it back. Her reward ended up being renting a movie. She normally doesn't get to watch movies, so this was a big treat. She picked out the movie she wanted. Sofia chose very well and it suited her personality. She picked out Bambi. She loved it! It took us two days to watch it as she still can't sit through a whole movie yet. It was so fun snuggled up on the couch with her and our popcorn watching it. Her eyes would get so big when a new animal was introduced and she would make the animal noise or say the name of the animal. Oh to see things through a child's eye again.
We love this little girl of ours!
