We had a St. Louis adventure this past weekend. The adventure was with Brian's parents, older brother and his two younger kids, and younger brother. We had lots of fun and really enjoyed it.
St. Louis has just an amazing zoo. We went there Friday despite the rising temperatures of that day. Sofia had so much fun seeing all the types of animals. I think she enjoyed the amphibians the best. I thought she would be excited to see the big kitties, but she did not seem too interested in them. Due to the heat the animals weren't too active. The animals were hiding in the shade, being lazy, or not outside at all. We enjoyed ourselves though.
After the zoo we went back to the hotel for either relaxation (napping) or pool time. Sofia got to experience the pool for the first time. She was a little nervous and clung to daddy for dear life, but she did better than I thought she would. In other words she did not throw a fit when she got in the water like I thought she would. By the end she was splashing, giggling, and able to be further and further in the water but still holding on pretty tight to daddy.
Friday night we went to a Cardinals baseball game. It was an evening game, but it was still pretty warm. The game was Cards vs. Dodgers and the Cardinals won. Sofia was such a good girl through the whole game. A water bottle, of all things kept her entertained eighty percent of the game. She would unscrew the cap, take a drink, screw the cap back on, move the bottle to another cup holder, give the bottle to Madeline, get the bottle back, unscrew the cap, and so on through most of the game. I once again learned that it is the simple things that keep a toddler happy.
Saturday we went to the City Museum. If you have not been there already, we greatly recommend you going there. When we were standing outside the museum getting ready to go inside our niece says 'this is going to be awesome' and awesome it was. Sofia had so much fun climbing and running around that as soon as we got in the van she was asleep.
The museum is housed in an old shoe factory. The museum was the idea of an artist, Bob Cassily. He took things from around the city that wasn't being used for anything any more and turned it into this wonderful museum that is a huge playground/funhouse. The whole thing is pretty amazing. We had our fill of slides that day.
